[ARCHIVED] Camden County Maintains Class 6 Rating

The floodplain management activities implemented qualify unincorporated Camden County residents for a 20 percent discount on flood insurance premiums for NFIP policies issued or renewed in Special Flood Hazard Areas on or after May 1, 2020. This savings is a result of the flood mitigation activities implemented to protect lives and reduce property damage.

“We are happy to provide this cost savings to our residents,” said CRS, E & S Coordinator Scott Brazell. “Unincorporated Camden County residents should continue to see this discount listed on their flood insurance notices.”

From 2012 through 2019, unincorporated Camden County residents have saved over $838,000 in flood insurance premiums through the county’s participation as a CRS community.

Additionally, Camden County is continuing to improve dissemination of flood related information to citizens, including through a new web-based tool that shows all of the flood hazard data in one place. This new tool incorporates sea level rise, flood zones, and storm surge for every parcel of property that can be researched by the public. This is through a partnership with the Nature Conservancy, Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources Division, the University of Georgia, and the City of St. Marys. More information about Camden County’s flood protection measures, including a link to the flood hazard tool, is available on the Camden County website at www.camdencountyga.gov/flood.
