[ARCHIVED] Take Action during Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is joining with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and the Camden County Chief Information Officer to encourage local citizens to take time to learn more about staying cyber secure.

“We encourage preparedness for all emergencies and taking the necessary steps to stop unauthorized access or damage to a computer system may prevent the loss of personal information,” said Camden County Emergency Management Director Chuck White. “Cyber Security Awareness Month is a great opportunity for Camden County citizens to learn how to protect themselves before a cyber-attack occurs.”

With the theme of “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart,” Camden County residents are encouraged to take action to protect their part of cyberspace. Weekly themes include:

  • Be Cyber Smart;
  • Fight the Phish;
  • Explore, Experience, Share; and
  • Cybersecurity First.

Specific information and tips will be posted throughout the month on the Camden County EMA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Residents can learn more tips on how to become cyber and tech ready by visiting gema.georgia.gov/plan-prepare/ready-georgia
