[ARCHIVED] Camden County Board of Commissioners Further Reduce Millage Rate

At their October 11, 2022, Special Called Meeting, the Camden County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to reduce the county-wide General Fund millage rate for 2022.

The approved millage rate for 2022 is 14.000 mills, a larger reduction than the previously announced 14.201 mills. This reduction is larger than the full rollback rate. This rollback rate is a 1.562 mills reduction or 10.0% less than the current rate. The Unincorporated Tax District will take the full rollback reducing the millage rate from 1.35 to 1.275.

“The Board of Commissioners is pleased to be able to reduce the millage rate for Camden County taxpayers,” said Chairman Gary Blount. “Our strong financial position allows us to provide this relief to our citizens and we continue to have $0 general fund debt, $0 unfunded pension liabilities, and strong reserves.”

As a result of this reduction, property owners whose values stayed the same from 2021 to 2022 or have homestead exemption freeze will see a reduced bill for the County portion of their property taxes. When considering a 14.200 operating millage rate, the annual tax bill for a home with a value of $200,000 with homestead exemption would be lowered by $118.71. Property tax bills will be mailed to all property owners later this year.
