[ARCHIVED] Risk Limiting Audit Confirms Election Day Results

The Camden County Board of Elections & Registration (BoER) is pleased to announce that the results of the Risk Limiting Audit (RLA) provided a perfect match to the Election Day outcomes for the December 6, 2022, General Election Runoff.

BoER staff conducted the audit on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, as part of the Secretary of State’s effort to confirm the accuracy of the election results. The Board of Elections & Registration was provided a selection of ballots from both an Election Day Polling Site and one batch of Absentee by Mail ballots. 641 Election Day ballots from the Waverly precinct and 100 ballots from the Absentee by Mail votes were selected randomly to be audited. This audit reflects an exact match to the Election Days results.

“Our election staff and poll workers work hard from training through Election Day to ensure that Camden County elections are fair, accurate, and secure,” said Elections Supervisor Shannon Nettles. “Camden County voters should know that the system in place works and that all elections are conducted in a transparent manner. I am so proud of our election team!”

The requirement for a post-election, pre-certification audit was introduced in Georgia during the 2019 legislative session following the introduction of a voter-verified paper based voting system. The purpose of the audit is to ensure the correct outcome of election contests. County election officials in the majority of Georgia’s 159 counties hand counted randomly selected ballots with the purpose of confirming the accuracy of the election results.
