[ARCHIVED] Take Action during Hurricane Preparedness Week

The National Weather Service (NWS) has declared April 30–May 6, 2023, to be Hurricane Preparedness Week. Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) urges all Camden County citizens to take time to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season that begins June 1, 2023.

“Whether you are new to Camden or you have been here your entire life, it is important to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season,” said Emergency Management Director Chuck White. “We want to encourage all Camden County residents to join us in taking action now to ensure the safety of their families, homes, and businesses.”

All residents should be aware that it only takes one storm to have a major impact on our community. In 2021, our county received damage from a tornado caused by Tropical Storm Elsa. In 2022, our community prepared for impacts from both Hurricane Ian and Tropical Storm Nicole.

Throughout the week, Camden County EMA will share about knowing risks, preparing before Hurricane Season, understanding forecast information, moving when a storm threatens, staying protected during storms, using caution after storms, and taking action. Camden County residents may find specific information and tips posted throughout the week on the Camden County EMA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
