GDOT Provides $750,000 for Horse Stamp Church Road Improvements

At the August 15, 2023, regular meeting, the Camden County Board of Commissioners recognized the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for their $750,000 contribution to improvements on Horse Stamp Church Road.

“The funding we received from our partners at GDOT will allow us to complete the necessary improvements needed for Horse Stamp Church Road due to projected increase of traffic on this route,” said Chairman Ben Casey. “This additional support will allow our local dollars to go further with road improvements.”

The 5.8-mile-long project includes road widening and resurfacing. It is anticipated to cost over $2.9 million and is funded through Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST VIII) and GDOT Safety Action Project (SAP) funding. Seaboard Construction began work in late June 2023 and it is estimated to be complete in September 2023.

“We are thankful for our continued working relationship with GDOT,” said County Administrator Shawn M. Boatright. “Their assistance is valuable to our on-going efforts for safe roadways in our county.”
