[ARCHIVED] Camden County Declares State of Emergency

Emergency circumstances exist from Hurricane Irma, requiring extraordinary and immediate proactive measures for the protection of the health and safety of the citizens of Camden County.

The National Hurricane Center forecasts Hurricane Irma will be dangerously close to the Southeastern Region of the State of Georgia and will likely produce excessive rainfall, damaging winds, fallen trees, the potential for flooding, and possible road closures in Camden County.

The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners has exercised, for such periods as the State of Emergency exists, these emergency powers to perform and exercise such powers, and duties as may be necessary to promote and secure the safety and protection of the public, pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 38-3-27 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT and Official Code of Camden County Chapter 22: CIVIL EMERGENCIES. This STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION shall remain in effect until rescinded.

Please continue to monitor the progress of the hurricane through the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center. Regular updates will also be posted to our Facebook pages for Camden County Government and Camden County EMA and on the County website at www.camdencountyga.gov.
