[ARCHIVED] County Offices to Remain Closed for Hurricane Irma Recovery

The impact from Hurricane Irma was significant. Many families left our community to seek refuge and are now anxious to get back home and resume their normal lives. The mandatory evacuation instituted by the Governor for residents living east of I-95 and the voluntary order issued locally are still in place and must remain so until the safety of residents can be assured and services needed to sustain life are available. While it is hard to imagine, critical services including water, sewer, and power are simply not available in our community. The full resources of all governments are being used to bring those services back on line as quickly as possible. Assessments and repairs were made to all these systems on Monday and will continue in the days to come.

Obviously, the same services needed to sustain homes and businesses are necessary for government offices to open. Progress the county, cities, and utility companies make toward restoring power and water to our offices will determine the time-line for resuming a normal work schedule. We are confident the cooperation and partnership demonstrated by every agency in the county will ensure this happens as quickly as is humanly possible. We will continue to assess the availability of services to our buildings this week and notify you when the evacuation orders are lifted and when work will resume.

Regular updates will also be posted to the Camden County website and our Facebook pages for Camden County Government and Camden County EMA.  Call the Camden County Information hotline at 1-866-868-4351 to get answers to frequently asked questions.
