[ARCHIVED] Jacobs Engineering Authors 'The Right Place at The Right Time' Report on Spaceport Camden

Jacobs Engineering and its subsidiaries are intimately familiar with the space industry, currently serving as the prime contractor of NASA's Test and Operations Support Contract at Kennedy Space Center.

Spaceport Camden: The Right Place at The Right Time“Jacobs Engineering knows the space industry and it knows what launch companies want,” said Steve Howard, Camden County Administrator and Spaceport Project Lead. “We wanted the very best in the field to review the unique opportunity we have with Spaceport Camden.  I am pleased to report that Jacobs has verified the viability of Spaceport Camden and underscored the demand we’ve seen from launch companies on the need for this project,” added Howard.

The study by Jacobs Engineering is a prelude to an important week for Spaceport Camden. The FAA will hold two public hearings in Camden County to present the findings from the Spaceport Camden draft Environmental Impact Statement and to receive public comments. However, support for the project continues to roll in from statewide leaders.

Stacy Abrams, candidate for Governor and former Georgia House of Representatives Democratic Leader offered her support for the project over the weekend, stating “Spaceport Camden is projected to bring thousands of jobs from construction, tourism, and aerospace engineering to Georgia. The proponents of the spaceport have worked diligently to develop this potential for growth and advancement in the region. I support innovative job creation in every county so that our families can stay in their communities and find success. This project is an encouraging step towards achieving that vision."  Abrams joins Casey Cagle, Brian Kemp and Hunter Hill as gubernatorial candidates supporting Spaceport Camden.

“The Right Place at The Right Time” is available on the Camden County website homepage, www.camdencountyga.gov, and under the Resources tab of the Spaceport Camden website, http://spaceportcamden.us.
