[ARCHIVED] Members Appointed to Spaceport Camden Education and Workforce Subcommittee

The Education and Workforce Subcommittee will be chaired by Laura Forczyk, a NASA Subject Matter Expert for planetary science missions and space career coach for students, recent graduates, and mid-career professionals.

Education and Workforce Committee members were appointed to reflect the wide range of skills and expertise that will be required by Spaceport Camden. They include:

  • Laura Forczyk, Scientist, Founder and Executive Director—Georgia Space Alliance (Chairperson)
  • Adon Clark, Dean of the School of Aviation - Middle Georgia State University
  • Paige Coker, Ed.S, Director of Public Relations and Special Projects—Ware County School District
  • Shawn T. Cruzen, Ph.D., Executive Director—Coca-Cola Space Science Center, Columbus State University
  • Glenn Deibert, Ed.D., President—Coastal Pines Technical College
  • Bill Garlen, Interim Director of Camden Center and Director of Administrative Operations—College of Coastal Georgia
  • Lisa Gleason, Director of Technical/Career Education—Camden County High School
  • Leo C. Melody, M.Ed., Director, Valdosta State University, Camden Center
  • Millie Price, Ed.S, STEM K-12 Instructional Coach—Ware County School District
  • Lonnie Roberts, Provost—Coastal Pines Technical College
  • Pete Snell, Vice President for Economic Development—Coastal Pines Technical College
  • Jessica Warren, UGA County Extension Coordinator, Agricultural and Natural Resources Agent
  • James R. Wilburn, Ed.D., Academic Program Director, Military, Professional Education—Georgia Institute of Technology

“The broad and extensive experience of the Spaceport Camden Education and Workforce Subcommittee is a testament to the aerospace expertise already available in Georgia. This subcommittee’s work is critical to ensuring Georgia continues to be the leader in the aerospace industry and Spaceport Camden offers launch customers the most talented workforce available anywhere in the world,” said Steve Howard Camden County Administrator and Spaceport Camden Project Lead.

The Spaceport Camden Education and Workforce Subcommittee has been tasked with identifying the needs of future spaceport users education and recommending K-12, technical college, and post-secondary curricula to prepare Georgia students for careers at Spaceport Camden.  The subcommittee will develop a list of recommendations that Camden County will share with elected and appointed officials at local school boards, the Georgia General Assembly, and the University System of Georgia.
