[ARCHIVED] Camden Residents Encouraged to Take Action during Hurricane Preparedness Week

Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) urges all Camden County citizens to take time to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season that begins June 1, 2019.

Although Camden County did not receive strong impacts from Hurricanes Florence and Michael last fall, their effect on our coastal neighbors reinforces the need to prepare for hurricanes. Camden County EMA is joining with other coastal counties and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) to hold a 2019 Hurricane Exercise during the month of May. This exercise will allow local government staff and partners to simulate the approach of a tropical storm.

“We cannot understate the importance of preparing now for the upcoming hurricane season,” said EMA Director Chuck White. “We want to encourage all Camden County residents to join us in taking action now to ensure the safety of their families.”

Throughout the week, Camden County residents will learn about hurricane risks, evacuations, disaster supplies, financial preparation, home preparation, helping neighbors, and making an emergency plan. Specific information and tips will be posted throughout the week on the Camden County EMA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Camden County residents looking for more information on how to prepare for hurricane season can visit www.camdencountyga.gov/ema or www.weather.gov/hurricanesafety.
