[ARCHIVED] Camden County Fire Rescue Takes Delivery of New Tanker

The new apparatus is expected to enter service in mid-September once it is fully outfitted with firefighting equipment.  This new tanker will replace Tanker 11 which will be transferred to reserve status to further improve CCFR’s operational readiness.

“I am thankful to the Board of County Commissioners for the significant investment it has made to modernize our fleet,” said Fire Chief Terry Smith.  “In addition to this tanker, we procured a new, 2018 4-Door Freightliner E-ONE Pumper last year and another new engine is on order and is expected to be delivered in October. Camden County’s SPLOST VIII plan includes $1.25 million for the purchase of four new ambulances for CCFR at a cost of at least $250,000 each."

In addition to the new vehicles, the Board of Commissioners is in process of completing a $2.8 million public safety radio communication system upgrade, construction of a new $575,000 fire station, and a new Emergency Operations Center/E-911 facility being built for $4.1 million.
